The King of Malaysian comedy Douglas Lim is a multi-hyphenate entertainer who has dabbled in acting for television, theater and film, stand-up, radio, and humorous content creation.

He burst on the scene in the iconic sitcom Kopitiam which earned him a nomination at the Asian Television Awards for Best Actor in a Comedy. His stand-up comedy shows include sold-out performances at Istana Budaya, KL Convention Center, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, and even The Public Theater in New York, landing him on the list of Asia’s Top 10 Comedians.

In 2019, Douglas Lim headlined MACC- The Goodbye Tour which performed to over 10,000 people across 11 cities. Johor was one of them. Then the pandemic hit…
With strict lockdown limitations (for the normal public) Douglas turned to social media. His humorous videos garnered millions of views, propelling him into the Malaysian Book of Records.

Now it is 2024 and Douglas Lim is very excited to get BACK TO WORK and make Johor laugh.

FOR BETTER FOR WORSE

So this is that I've been working on. Really excited to be able to share this with all of you. But first, story time...

I started out as a singer/songwriter when I was 17. Back then, there was no social media, no pandemic and no doubt in my mind that music was my career choice. 

 

My first recording album sold around 7 copies, I think (HAHAHAHA). I wasn't paid anything for it. The producer kinda of just disappeared. But I wasn't too fussed about the money aspect. What hurt me the most was the horrible review in the limited press coverage. Just because you are passionate about something, doesn't mean you will be good at it. Very sobering for a teenager.

 

Anyway, after that I focused on comedy and I'm probably known to most of you for that - the funny actor, the stand-up comedian, the guy who does silly videos of FB and Youtube. 

 

But I still really enjoyed making music...

 

So I'm just so thankful that Gamuda Gardens gave me this opportunity to revisit my passion for music. Also, a big thank you to Imagineers Film and my friend Reuben W.J Kang for producing the music video and JD at Studio 21:05 for producing the song.

 

This is a simple love song. I you want to use it to "kau" somebody, please go ahead. If you want me to sing this at your wedding, give me a shout out HAHAHAHA (once the MCO is lifted lah).
